The coveted Broker's Cup

About the Event
Brokers for Kids is a year-long contest involving valley commercial real estate teams in a fundraising drive that culminates with the Brokers for Kids annual event. The coveted Broker's Cup is awarded to the top fundraising team. Teams also compete for the Olympiad Championship during the event in a series of fun physical challenges, listed below.

Our charity, Boys Hope, Girls Hope helps academically capable and motivated children-in-need to meet their full potential and become men and women for others. We help these children succeed by providing value-centered, family-like homes, opportunities and education through college.

This good-natured competition benefits at risk children who face issues that even the strongest, most mature adult would find challenging. Issues ranging from physical and mental abuse, severe burns, debilitating diseases and "at risk" environments that encumber their chances for success and sometimes survival. The Scottsdale Active 20/30 Club is proud to present Brokers for Kids in the effort to change many local childrens' lives.

The 2010 Brokers for Kids Olympiad will be held Friday, February 19, 2010 at Tempe Town Lake. Event start is at 12:30 p.m. with 24 teams participating. Each team will begin competition simultaneously at one of four events. After 45 minutes, teams will rotate events until all teams have completed each event. Scores are tallied and the top four teams compete in a thrilling top-secret finale deciding the Olympiad Champion. Download a map to the event

Refreshments are served throughout the day, with a live band performing post-Olympiad for a party that continues through the evening. We can't wait to see you there.

The Olympiad Events:

Volleyball
Extreme agility & mental toughness is required for this demanding team sport. With only a thin net between them, expert squads execute finely-tuned strategies with pinpoint accuracy, hoping to bring themselves and their proud firms one step closer to the coveted Olympiad championship. Training, focus, determination and teamwork are needed to prepare for competition at this level.

Each team will have 6 players with at least one woman playing at all times. Games will be to 21 points or whichever team is ahead at 30 minutes. Referee has total authority and all rulings are final.

BAGGO
8 players per team throw down in this grueling grudge-match of finesse, concentration and will. Each match offers competitors the chance to start a winning tradition for his/her team in this new event as players face off for bragging rights, points and that magical feeling from a perfect toss. Groups of four throw four bags each per round until 21 points are scored in even rounds, or 30 minutes are up, whichever comes first. As in every sanctioned Broker's Olympiad event, the referee has total authority and all rulings are final.

Bocce Ball
Teams of 8 are divided in half and pitted against opponents in a game originating during the Roman Empire. Steeped in history, the intensity of this event cannot be overestimated. Stamina is a must, as there is no limit to the pounding athletes will endure or the number of rounds played in this great contest. Victory may be snatched from the jaws of defeat at any moment with a well-placed shot. The team accruing the most points during 30 minutes of play will prevail. The referee has total authority and all of his rulings are final.

Quaterback Challenge
The smell of leather beckons armchair athletes year after year to the Broker's Olympiad football toss. The perfect spiral, form, a throwing arm and a beautiful arch mean absolutely nothing in this out-and-out brawl! It doesn't have to be pretty. Every target counts. The highest point total at the end of the even rounds in 30 minutes gets a big fat X in the win column.
